about

A panoramic view of Haylng Island, Sussex, centred on an horse show in the South of the Island.

lyrics

In the Cola-bottle pond by the road by the houses by the field by the sea by the mainland shore, a duck slips its head from its green-slime slither and gulps the sound of the nearby roar of the once-a-year meeting of saddles and ice-cream, two-foot high jockeys with reins around their backs, prim young madams with buttocks over-spreading, grim young gentlemen and county jacks, and squealing Southern sibillants which boomerang the fences where cows stand uncertain, summer buzzing in their eyes and a toddler turns a whimper to a dribble to a sigh as she passes by the water where the mallards lie.
